Medication Information & Disclosures
At Virtual WeightCare, our goal is to provide safe, evidence-based medical weight management under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers. This page explains the medication options that may be available through our programs and important information patients should understand before enrolling.
Clinical Evaluation Required
All patients must complete a clinical evaluation with a licensed medical provider before any medication is prescribed. Enrollment in a program and payment for services do not guarantee a prescription. A provider will review your medical history, current medications, health conditions, and treatment goals to determine whether GLP-1 therapy is clinically appropriate.
Compounded GLP-1 Medication Disclosure
Virtual WeightCare may coordinate access to compounded GLP-1 medication options, including compounded semaglutide or compounded tirzepatide, only when prescribed by an independent licensed medical provider and when clinically appropriate.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are provided to patients. Compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide are not the same as FDA-approved brand-name medications and are not FDA-approved generics.
The FDA has stated that compounded drugs should generally be used only when a patient’s medical needs cannot be met by an FDA-approved medication. Your licensed provider will determine whether a compounded medication is appropriate based on your medical history, treatment goals, availability, and clinical judgment.
Medication is not guaranteed. Dose, formulation, pharmacy availability, state availability, and eligibility may vary. Patients should use compounded GLP-1 medications only as prescribed and should carefully follow all dosing, storage, and administration instructions. Injectable GLP-1 medications may require refrigeration, and patients should not use medication that arrives warm, damaged, mislabeled, or otherwise concerning.
Patients should promptly contact their licensed provider or Virtual WeightCare support with medication questions, side effects, dosing concerns, or concerns about product quality. For urgent symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, signs of dehydration, allergic reaction, chest pain, fainting, or suicidal thoughts, seek urgent or emergency medical care.
